Do I need cooking experience to attend the courses?
No, my courses are designed for anyone, from beginners to experts.
Is there an age limit to attend the courses?
Yes, you’ll need to be 18 or older to attend.
Where are the courses held?
My Sri Lankan cookery courses take place in my apartment in South London. For more information, see the Location page.
What do the courses involve?
Each course consists of learning one menu, which are detailed on the Courses page. Each of my classes includes all the ingredients and spices necessary to complete all the dishes on the course menu. We start with introductions, then overview the menu and ingredients, and then cook the dishes whilst my students interact as much as they wish to. We then finish by plating up, and students sit down and enjoy eating the meal together. (Alternatively, students have the option to take their meal home in re-heatable containers.) Students also receive a printed recipe for each dish to take home with them.
When are the courses and how do I book?
You’ll need to Contact me to book a class or a gift voucher. When we speak, we’ll agree how many tickets you wish to buy and possible dates for your class, depending on my availability and schedule of upcoming classes. I’ll then send you a PayPal payment request, and once you’ve purchased your ticket(s), I’ll provide you with directions to my flat.
What should I wear and/or bring?
I suggest that you wear suitable casual clothes – disposable aprons will be provided. You don’t need to bring any cooking equipment or utensils.
I like the look of some of your dishes but they’re not on a specific menu – what if I’d like to pick-and-choose some dishes to make a custom menu of my own?
Every class is customisable – Contact me and we can discuss!
What if I have special dietary needs (e.g. vegetarian, vegan, pescetarian) or am allergic to something on one of the menus?
I’m more than happy to tailor a custom class to suit you – please give me a call to discuss what would work best for you. For reference, all meats used are halal.
What if I’d like to learn to cook a Sri Lankan dish which isn’t on your current list of menus?
I’m more than happy to tailor a custom class to suit you – please give me a call to discuss what would you’d like to learn and we can go from there.
Can you run classes at my home?
Sorry, this isn’t something I offer at the moment, no.
Can I change or cancel my booking, once I’ve paid?
I’m afraid that all bookings are non-refundable. Tickets are however transferable, so you can send someone else in your place if you wish to. Please call me in advance if you’re transferring your ticket, so I know who to expect. If I haven’t been informed of a ticket transfer, I won’t be able to admit the new ticket holder, for security reasons.
Can I buy tickets as a gift, for friends/family to attend?
Yes – gift vouchers are available for each menu, and are valid for six months. Once you’ve decided which menu you want to purchase someone a gift voucher for, please contact me (with your email address handy) and I’ll send you a request for credit card payment via PayPal. Once you’ve paid, I’ll email you a gift voucher in PDF format, which you can give to the lucky person!
Are there any discounts/offers?
Yes, I run promotions from time to time, and you’ll see these advertised via my email mailing list. If you haven’t signed up already, you can join the email list here.
